How do I recover data from a hard drive from a dv9420us? It will not power up and HP is replacing the notebook, but I need the data off my old hard drive.

Well you can try getting a SATA (Laptop) to USB connector and see if you can recover the information off the drive that way. You can purchase it from sites like newegg.com

There is one. You just remove your drive fromt he laptop hook it up to this sucker and plug it into another PC it should act like an external hard disk. Of course this only works if your hard drive is fine and undamaged.

Thanks...I will try that. The problem was a definite motherboard problem.
