from what i've read, there seems to be a consensus that hdx16 is ddr2, but some people seem to be saying hdx18 is gddr3? this doesn't seem to make financial sense from hp's side, but it would be a factor in deciding between the two if it were true. anyone have a definitive answer?

both are ddr2 afaik.

Yes both are DDR2...the review on this site mentions HDX 18t to have a GDDR3 GPU but...I was convinced by Xirurg later. I guess there is an error in the review over here..

yea both are ddr2, hp opted in only for ddr2 9600's in their new laptops, unlucky us
ddr2 vs. gddr3 hdx16 and hdx18
