hey guys,so the hp died and although it turns on there is nothing on the screen,i need to erase the memory and did read that if i took out the small circular battery thing on the mobo for like 45 mins and put it back in it would erase the memory,is this true and or wot is the right way to erase the memory when the laptop doesnt work

All that does is remove the password (if any) from the BIOS and reset the BIOS to default parameters.
The hard drive is untouched. To erase the harddrive, you will have to remove it and put it into a USB enclosure. This will allow you to gain access to the drive. You can even pull of files from the drive using this method. -
so website passwords are on the hdd and not the memory itself? sounds easy enuff to get a usb enclosure etc and erase it that way then pop back into dead laptop, gonna sell it for used parts i guess,a guy said he/d give 30 for it lol.
