hey all,
now that i have finished building my notebook cooler, I'm bored...and thus, I started to read up on the current ssd drives. So, I have come to the decision to sell my wife and use the proceeds to buy a ssd for my laptop. I'll be using this as a OS drive and the 320gb drive that comes stock as storage. Now, the question becomes: which one to get? They all seem the same to me? I be interested to hear which ones you think are the best and which ones present the best value.
Id like to keep below the $300 price tag.

excellent idea to sell your wife. get the intel x25-m or the samsung. those are the two best ones out right now.
-
How much for the wife? Sorry couldn't resist
. Try to get a model with TRIM capability.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
On the contrary... Samsung has the worst controller of the three "big ones" available at the moment. That's not to say it's bad; it's just not as good as Intel and/or Indilinx. -
thanks for the info. I'll just have to wait for the INTEL SSDSA2MH080G201 X25M 2.5in 80GB SATA 3.0 7mm Solid State Drive to get back into stock at zzf.

I have OCZ Vertex 60GB
-
For the $300 your best bang for your buck is definatly going to be the Intel 80GB second generation drive.
-
OCZ Vertex or Agility.
I have 4 of them. (2)120GB,(1)60GB, (1) 30GB.
Very fast, very reliable. Plus they are win7 TRIM compliant.
Also have the best tech support around. See the OCZ forum for example. -

mr. 2.0,
what have you heard about the intel x-25 drives? anything positive? negative? all the youtube videos of machines w/ssd drives booting up has convinced me to get one
-
Intel drives are excellent. Depending on what you want to use your computer for. OCZ makes generally faster drives that are just as reliable and are also win7 Trim compliant.
Only reason I would get an Intel drive is because I wanted an 80GB instead of a 60/64GB or a 160GB instead of a 120/128GB drive. Or if I did a lot of Web server/database IO.
Here's a good review of the X25 G2 with Trim win7 support: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=805 -
An SSD comparison guide I was sent by a friend.
