Does anyone know how to defeat the version check in the recovery disks that HP sends with their notebooks. I had to purchase XP Pro for my wife's Pavilion ZT1000 to obtain some needed features and now I have a version of XP Home that I can't use due to version check lockout. A call to HP was nothing but pure frustration! I want to install the Home version on an older Toshiba Notebook.

i don't know of a way, but if there is one, it most likely wont be easy, since as an oem they customize the xp installation disks to normally check the bios for the right information.

Its not that hard, I had done it with XP Pro, Off the top of my head I cant tell you how. But I can tell you this much, Look into XP Automated installation scripts and you find your answer.
