After searching i found that the only differences between the Preconfigered new pavilion dv6600 and dv6500 is in the Wireless technologies...
The dv6600 models contains the Intel® Pro/Wireless 2200 802.11b/g Integrated Wireless LAN technology.
The dv6500 models contains the Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Integrated Wireless LAN technology .

The Intel® Pro/Wireless 2200? That can't be. That's part of the Carmel and Sonoma platforms from 2003 and 2005, respectively.
Why in the world would they be issuing older cards in place of newer ones we have today? -
i think hp missed up with this update (downgrade) .

sorry miner you are wrong ,maybe its a typo but why it repeated in every
dv6600 alone model specification for example this one here

I agree with Miner. I have got HP Pavilion DV6670ee, I bought it from UAE/Middle East. If you see it's specifications mentioned on HP Middle East website, it says it has got the Intel 2200 Wireless. I was a bit sad for that since every thing else in this notebook is top notch but when my brother brought it here and when I saw its box, it said it has 'Intel 3945 wireless' not 2200 which I confirmed right away in Device Manager!
I was quite happy and surprised to see that. So it definitely can be a typo from HP. HP Imprint Finish Design is also not mentioned for the model I bought but when it arrived here, I found that the HP Imprint Finish design is present too.
