Hey all i just purchased my first hp lappy and i was so excited to get it and start using it... the special edition dv6500t.....but i went to another forum site for oblivion...a game which i have been waiting for my new lappy to play on. the guys at the other site said the video card on the 6500t wouldnt play oblivion well. i thought about it and basically screwed myself. i told hp to cancel my 6500 order while it is currently in production, then i will have to wait for it to ship to my house so i can return it and then wait for my acct to be credited to buy a 9500t with the better gpu.

What im wondering if anyone could tell me is if they have a 6500t with an 8400gs who has oblivion could tell me how it runs on the computer i would love feedback in time to possibly un-cancel my order.... that would be awesome thanks guys

The 8400 makes Oblivion playable, but it's going to stutter at all but the lowest detail settings. Outside it will be jerky.

You're better off finding a laptop with an 8600GT or X2600, or better. HP's consumer notebooks don't offer much unless you go to 17". I'd consider a Dell Inspiron 1520 or even an Apple MacBook Pro, they both offer way better graphics chipsets.

I can tell you that on my MacBook Pro (8600GT 128MB), Oblivion runs pretty well (1440x900, medium details).

i've got it and its not that bad... dont expect to play it on high settings.. but it is very playable at mid-low settings..
