    dim the backlight??

    is there a way to dimm the backlight so its not so bright.the blacks look kinda gray and i did turn down the brightness etc but that didnt help.

    i think turning down the brightness is as close as you can get to dimming the backlight

    Take a look at the blue keys on your keyboard, like F3 and F4. Press and hold the "Fn" key, then one of those keys.

    It would help if you said what laptop you have.

    if you wanna permanent solution, you can save the changes you made to the brightness setting in the Power Options (in Vista), either for Power Saver or High Performance.

    I thought brightness was refering to the brightness of the backlight and the grayness could be problems with contrast? But then again, what do I know about these kinds of things.

    i kinda ment the backlight itself,but i guess you cant dimm it.thanks for the answers.

    On an LCD panel, brightness IS controlled by the backlight. Contrast is usually not controllable.
