    Greetings,

I would like to Put windows XP on this notebook, and I understand that to do that, you need to disable SATA. when I go into the BIOS Setup, and system configuration, I don't see an option to disable it.

Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

You can slipstream SATA drivers into a new custom XP disc.

    ok. Thanks for the replies.

I have done some searching for where I can find SATA drivers for the hard disk drive that came with this PC, bit havent had any success.

My Hard drive's model # is:WD3200BEVT (western digital).

Or is there simply a generic driver I can use?

    Thanks again for your help.

You don't need drivers for the hard drive, you need drivers for the SATA controller. The chipset is Mobile Intel PM45 Express, so you can get the drivers on Intel's website.

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng

Extract the package, nLite will let you select those drivers to slipstream. Make sure you only select the driver that is right for your chipset. If you have an issue, post a screenshot of nLite and I will tell you which one specifically to use.

    Hep,

Understood. I have used nlite and seem to have been able to select the correct driver. I'll let you all know how it goes.

ok, an update. I have hit another snag.

I used nlite to select the correct drivers, and created a bootable ISO. When installing XP, I get the same Blue Screen of Death that I got before:

    STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

I've also tried simply copying the driver file to a USB Drive, and using it during the installation. (Press F6 to install a 3rd party SCSI or RAID Driver). Each time I get a message saying the "device could not be detected, and when I press S to select the driver, "could not find any oem devices". (these may not be the exact words of the messages).

this error is also documented here:

    Any further ideas?

You're either selecting the wrong drivers or you've got a SATA optical drive (XP doesn't like SATA optical drives).
    Or both.

Try installation from a USB optical drive.

    Does this help at all?

You didn't say whether your using XP 64bit or 32bit so I'll assume it's 32bit.

    Download file f6flpy32_85.zip from here

Extract the contents to a temporary folder f6Temp for example.

Copy your XP installation disk to a temporary folder XPTemp for example.

Run nLite and select XPTemp under Locating the Windows installation

Go to Task Selection and select Drivers and Bootable ISO

On the Drivers page select Insert then Single driver and browse to f6Temp select and open iaAHCI.inf and select the one for your machine ICH9M

Go to Bootable ISO and select Mode Direct Burn, select checkbox Verify then click Burn

You might want to use a RW CD.

ok, i think i may have discovered something that is causing a hangup.

When copying the contents of the XP install disk onto my harddrive, the copy completely hangs on the file 'driver.cab', in the folder I386. And then I get an error message. The same happens if I only try to copy that file.

It seems like I have a corrupted driver.cab file on this particular install disc.

    an update,

This time I used a different install disc (which does not have the driver.cab error), and Followed 0.0's instructions, and I still get the BSOD.

Below are a couple of screenshots that may help:

    Image1

These are the different drivers I can select from when slipstreaming the iaACHI.inf file.

    Image2

This is my device manager, where it tells me the driver name.

At first, in nLite I was selecting the one in the list that says: ICH9M-E/M SATA.

This last time when I tried it, I noticed one above where it says: ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E SATA. I got the same result.

Thanks in advance for any further comments or ideas.

You want the second to last one in image one.

    SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there are still some kinks to be ironed out, but as of this moment I have windows XP Installed, with a connection to our WLAN.

My extreme thanks to Hep and 0.0 for their help.

I believe i heard at one point, not long ago, that XP had never been installed successfully on one of these PC's.

    Well, it can be done.

No problem. Need any assistance with those kinks or you got it from here? Should just be routine driver installation at this point.

    Let me guess the meaning:
1.Did he mean I should select from the no. 2 of image 1 until the last file? or
2.Did he mean I should select the second file only? or
3.Did he mean I should select the last two files? or
4.Did he mean I should select the second file from the last file? or

Please anyone of you explain me because I followed all of you sugestion in here but I was not success.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi all
My problem is when I installed XP, it succeed but when it reboot again, i've got blue screen:

    STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

Then I suspect that I selected the wrong driver in Nlite. My laptop is HP pavilion dv7 1000eg.

Thank you you all in advance. :)
