for whatever reason, when I plug in headphones I can hear audio.

I however, can't use my built in speakers.

First thing I did was install a fresh copy of win7 and then went straight to hp for the drivers, any idea's as to whats wrong?

You never checked with the original OS if the computer was functional?

Use the HP recovery discs to restore the dm1, see if the speakers work now, if not there is some sort of hardware problem, do you have a warranty?
