If you don't need the more compact 15.6" size of the dv6 I would recommend a dv7tqe similar to the one in my signature.

Do you have to do all those in classroom? I mean i7 and 7690m is a upgrade but not a huge 1(GPU is kind of huge but then depends how often you game/game on mobile etc) . XPS nVida also have CUDA which may beneficial for your tasks.

I'd def get the dv6t qe if Iwere you. With all the deals they've got going on you can create an awesome rig to do whatever you want and portable as well.

Personally I want/need a 17 inch laptop so if I were to buy now I'd be looking at the dv7t qe and the Envy 17 3D.

But for those who want the normal standard 15.6 inch laptop the dv6t qe is the best deal.

I just got my DV6TQE about three weeks ago and I absolutely love it! Owned a DV3510nr (13.3 inch) laptop before this and both have shown to be great devices. Currently playing The Old Republic on max resolution with max graphic setttings and it runs pretty smooth! Haven't gotten into much PvP/Endgame content but so far so good! :D
