Planning on dual booting my system. Using Vista home premium as the primary OS for the computer, and using XP as the secondary OS ( to play Oblivion)

During the process i will have to mess with the partitions of the hard drive. i read some of the threads with the numerous problems that people are having with vista and the quickplay feature and i really want to avoid having these problems.

quickplay is one of the main reasons i went for the dv900t. dual booting however is my means to play oblivion, one of the primary reasons to get the new computer.

so if anyone would just let me know if there would be any problems with dual booting and quickplay thatd be great! thx in advance!

I have a duel boot system on my dv 6000t and do not have quick play working in XP from a boot up. The other problem you have which you switch from vista to XP you loose all your restore points in vista

ok but does quickplay work on vista?

and why do you lose your restore points, is there a technical reason for this?

I have a dv2000t, when I upgraded to Vista I was careful not to run the HP upgrade utility as this removes the QuickPlay partition. I believe that new HP laptops no longer have a boot based QuickPlay, however if you're like me and you upgrade without getting rid of the QuickPlay partition then it's possible to have a system with Vista and with an older version (2.3) of the Quickplay. There is a very long (about 37 pages) thread on how to do this, I suggest doing some digging around with the Search engine (or use Google).

Quick play works in vista after you boot up . It is useless in Vista In XP you do not have to boot into windows. The restore points are lost in a duel boot. Just the way it is.
