dumb design of "smart cache drive" on envy 4 (or possibly my ignorance)

So I have been working with a handful of the new envy 4 systems which have a 500 GB spinner and the 32GB SSD cache drive.

A couple of users have reported that they have slowed down significantly in booting and launching of apps since they first received them.

This seems counter to what's advertised where it "smart" caches frequently accessed files to improve performance

After doing a bit of digging around it seems the caching is occurring but is anything but "smart"

These machines are frequently used to do presentations which use multiple media files. These files (which would run fine off a slow USB drive) are being cached at the expense of application and system files.

I have not been able to find an answer to this yet, but is there anyway to to tweak this so it ignores the media files? Seems like a waste as is

Over time it should learn to cache the files you use more frequently.
