i own an older hp pavillion dv 1000. my battery has been bad for over a year, i was just wondering if anyone knows if the cpu processing speed is cut by running it (battery removed) on a/c power. i cant turn the computer on with the battery installed.

i just bought a macbook and on the support page it says that if you run your macbook with the battery removed and a/c power only, that it WILL cut the processor speed. Just wondering if the same would be true for my HP.

    thanks,

processor speed is cut just in celerons and normaly when running on batteries but in most centrinos you can choose between power or stamina and this is not the case of the Dv1000, the processor speed is not cut no matter if the notebook is running batteries or AC you will always get the same performance running only on AC batteries or even AC with battery installed :) (assuming that you have the centrino notebook)
