Why dont you use your recovery partition?

Call up HP and tell them you cannot create and they will send you the CD's

Does this usually work? How would I start that call? Say that it comes up with an error message or something?

Yes, tell them you cannot create the recovery disc. In the past, they just send you the discs free of charge. Maybe they know how to fix this issue..

They might tell you just to use the recovery partition, do not let them talk you into doing this. Force them to send the discs like their supposed too.

Try safe mode to create the dics, some guy a couple of weeks ago posted he was able to create his dics in safe mode, after having the same problems you are in normal mode.

You can use another laptop's recovery dics as long as it's your model or very close to it, because I've done this when my dics wouldn't recover.

Thanks! I received the discs on Tuesday (I called Friday night). It just so happens that I did have a problem creating the discs. I wanted to give it a try first to see how many it would need, but after like an hour of "creating files" and just doing nothing, I went ahead and called.
