Hi my DV-6000t has been working flawlessly since I had it, now all of a sudden the sound decides it doesn't want to work. I uninstalled/reinstalled the audio driver and updated the bios to the latest and even did a system restore to last week when it was working, no dice. So I plug in a set of headphones into the first audio jack, nothing still but there are 2 more audio jacks so I put it in the second jack and it works fine, as does the spdif port. I'm running XP and I'm familiar with it, but does this mean that the software portion is fine and the first audio port is toasted, and the 1st audio jack is run inline with the speaker on the laptop? My warranty is gone as it just turned a year old in november. Can I still get an extended warranty for it? Im hoping I dont have to replace the motherboard but its starting to look like that.

this is because the first audio jack is an input, not an output. If you look next to the jack there will be a microphone symbol next to it. The other two have a headphone symbol in between them with the labels "1" and "2" with the second also having the "spdif" designation.

Also do the built in speakers work? If not then there is a patch on the HP website that fixes a problem where the headphone jacks work but the speakers don't, or actually I just post the link
    Conexant High Definition Audio Driver

Yes I see i dident read the ports correctly. So both headphone ports work but the speaker does not. I updated the conexant hd audio driver and it still doesnt not work. Seems like the speaker is shot and the audio card is fine? This sucks Should I buy the 1 year after warranty expired warranty? How much is it HP doesnt list how much it is.

I have exactly the same issue on a DV9033CL after removing my USB audio... The headphones work slightly, only one channel, but absolutely NOTHING from the SPEAKERS.

    Installed new drivers.
    Installed MS unified audio system
    Restored to previous working point

Nothing appears to work at this point... :(

Check under sound playback and make sure the built in audio is selected and nothing external. Sometimes Vista will switch to an external USB or dock audio device and not the intergrated one.

If that is fine and the audio port out jack works then its the built in speaker that's shoot.

Yea so it seems that the speaker is broken and or disconnected some how. This sucks sending my laptop in just for this stupid problem. And the laptop is out of warranty. Looks like I need to get that out of warranty extra year.
