THANKS!

I had the same problem, tried everything I could think of until the connector completely broke apart on me. Now I am waiting on a replacement LCD cable! I don't understand why it would be so hard to pull that connector out.

Normally those connectors can be removed by using your index and middle fingers on the for corners of the connectors and use your thumbs to push away the inverter... but those connectors are very cheap... so you could also pull the cable(which I don't usually suggest), but is acceptable if your left with no other option... Plus those cables can also be more strong then those stupid connectors...

I would not use pliers, the will crush the connector with little effort.

Just as a follow-up for anyone who might have the same problem with their inverter.

I received the replacement cable and it was the wrong one. Make sure you get a part number off of the cable itself, I was going by a tag on the connector. So after another wait for the correct cable, I set about replacing the inverter. I plugged it in and screwed it down and the screen lit up...Yeah! Success! Until I tried to put the bezel on. I discovered that I had mounted the inverter the wrong way around. (one side is flat and the other holds all the chips) No problem, just reverse it. Inverter STOPS working. It works in one direction but not the other, and when it does work it is intermittent. After several frustrating hours I discover that 3 (!) soldered connections on the inverter are broken clean through, there wasn't enough solder on them to really hold them in the first place. Rather than wait for another inverter, and figuring I had very little to lose, I bought a soldering iron and went to work. 3 pretty bad solders later I had a working inverter. I put the notebook back together and it works fine. I have a slight bulge in the screen bezel where I didn't tuck some wires out of the way correctly, but I'm not about to open it up again...until I have to replace the inverter again!

use a very tiny flat head screwdriver and stick it in where the plug is plugged in. turn the screwdriver like a quarter turn to loosen the plug. then you should beable to pull it out after that.

eBay. Read the part # off your current inverter and search on that.

    Hi all,

I have also a DV1000 display problem. Here are the original symptoms:
    - when starting up laptop, screen is OK for about 10 seconds (I can see the login screen etc.) then there is a kind of buzzing sound and screens flickers a bit and finally it goes black.

So I started googling the internet and everything points to a broken inverter. Next move was to find a proper inverter for this laptop. So I open the display, check the inverter model (DAC-08B061A, REV A0 294733000 etc) and started searching the net for a replacement. And Ebay offered the solution: Notesupplies.com and inverter for some 15$....

So I got a new inverter, replace it and cross my fingers... no luck, a bad inverter maybe ?! I investigated it and there are some bad connections on it. I contacted the supplier and they offered a new inverter for just paying the delivery. I got a new inverter, again, and replaced it and yes, display was ok. Or was it ??? The bottom right corner of the screen get darker a bit by bit and is VERY hot. And after restarting laptop, Screen was black again at some point.

This happened a while ago, I used my laptop with ext monitor until now when I started to fix this again.

So did I get two bad inverters (they were cheap :)) or could there be some other problems also ? Display seems just fine when it's viewable.

I can use laptop ok with external LCD display

    Thanks for any tips, Esa

I got a small screwdriver blade on the underside of the plug and levered it gently off the pcb. Came out pretty easily.

Hi, I just replaced my LCD inverter on my dv1000. I have a few problems...

I have to attempt to boot up my laptop multiple times before the lcd will finally turn on. When it finally turns on it makes a little high pitched noise...

Also, I noticed that the trim around the LCD where the new inverter was located seemed like it was getting really hot. I removed the lcd covering to investigate the inverter and I found that it was getting so hot it actually melted some of the plastic (heat or static shield??) around the chip.

Lastly (yes, theres more), the LCD will only even have a CHANCE of turning on if I have the ac power cord plugged into it. The LCD will not light up if the laptop is only running off the batteries...

Ahhh, this is very frustrating and any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
