I am looking to buy the dv1000 but want to wait for the 915 chipset. I am fairly new at technology and don't own a laptop at present, but from what I have read it is worth waiting for this new processor. Am I right in this assumption and does anyone know when the dv1000 when be sold with Sonoma capabilities? Thanks.

A latest chipset need not be the best for your needs.
You might get a better deal on the existing model.

Sonoma doesn't offer that great of a performance boost compared to the Dothan, I don't think the Sonoma is worth it unless your looking to squeeze the absolute best performance out of your pc.

I notice no significant difference in performance based on what I do between the Sonoma 1.6 on the Dell i6000 and the Dothan 1.7 HP DV1000. The only differences I believe are when you are running at the higher speeds with dedicated graphics cards. Its potential has yet to be explored.

Are the dv1000 or v2000 going to be updated this year and relatively soon? I know HP announced the 4000 models but don't remember reading about upgrades to existing ones. If those two do get updated, other than the chipset upgrade, what else will change?

    Thanks
