I'm trying to update my bios on my dv1000 using the files on HP's site located here. I currently have version F.12, but whenever I run the update file it says "This bios is not for your notebook PC". I just installed Windows XP on a formatted hd so I don't think it's a software conflict and it won't work in safe mode either... can anyone help please? I've tried all the versions on the link above and none of them work :/

There were several versions of the dv1000 - the early versions had 400MHz Pentium M's & later upgraded to the 533MHz Pentium M & finally the Core series processors which means it had different chipset, graphics & the MB itself. So, the latest BIOS might not be the correct one for your particular system. Try searching HP's software & drivers site by using the product number and see if it turns up the correct BIOS for your system.

My P/N is pt111av... when I searched for it on the hp site, drivers for the dv1300 CTO came up, but I get the same message when I try to use those updates. This person seems to have the same problem I do, but I'm not sure what to do?

Hmm...strange issue. The only thing I can suggest is contacting HP and check with them about why the BIOS does not recognise your system. It might be a problem with the BIOS file itself rather than something on your system.
