I was wondering if anyone was having trouble with speeds of their realtek ethernet on the dv1000? I just got mine and I wanted to ftp files off of my main computer to the laptop. I can connect fine to my ftp through my router, but the transfer rate never goes above 80k/sec. Same happens when I go through my other 10/100 hub. Anyone know how to fix this?

btw this laptop is sweet, like it a lot so far (also after uninstalling practically all of the pre-installed software).

    Thanks

Is this an ftp server on your local network or is it remote somewhere and you go through the Internet? If it's the latter, it's probably your Internet connection slowing you down, if it's on your local network, you've got something else going on. I've transferred files with my wired connection (within my local network), and I got up to 8-9 MB/sec (which correlates to about 70-80 Mb/sec I believe). (the difference being megabytes vs. megabits (i.e. 10/100Mb/s)

It's an internal network, I share DSL with my roommate so I have a 4-port router, in which the three are connected. I used to have my sister's old laptop on it as well and I had no trouble getting 8-9 MB/sec between that and my main computer.

well, ok I decided to try the opposite, put an ftp server on my laptop and then connect to it from my main computer. Seems like that works fine that way. Must be something wrong with my ftp then, kinda strange but I guess I'll do it that way. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated, but it's no big deal now. Thanks in advance.
