awhile ago it was louder , and every few mins would go fast and loud then settle down and it kept temps below 60,
now its just slow the whole time and keeping them like 70-80 so im wondering whats causing this, my comps froze n forced to turn off 3 times today, what would affect how much the fan spins? i updated graphics driver, but dont think thats what it was so any ideas please! ty

70-80*C is dangerously high if the CPU is keeping this temp all the time (unless you are playing games all the time). What is your processor and what are you using it for? Core duo, browsing?

celeron m, reasno why its higher, but it ussualy stays 60- for sure,

right now I heard the fan, so I think its fixing itself? i blew pressurized air around the fan and maby loosened debris if thats what was making itslow.
its 66 and this is my first summer with this laptop so I think its a ok temp

The canned air is always a good thing :) Look at the vents and the fan and see if there's any more dust build-up there. Further, always put the laptop on hard surfaces (I"m sure you know this). To improve the air flow under the laptop, raise the back 2-3cm (inch and a half).
And of course, if you find a good deal on a cooler, buy it. I have 14 inch laptop too and I know it doesn't feel comfortable when it's warm (the summer is reeeeally a reason for the high temps).

im looking for a laptop cooler or Ill just make my own

    Plans:
    Peice of wood, plywood
cut out space for 80mm fan, place fan in at a angle SUPERGLUE,

but im wondering about how to power the fan,
batteries are a waste and plugging it into wall would make it blowup lol, maby tear apart a old usb thing for the power I dunnobut yea a 80mm fan under cpu, and then that would be it because hardrive isstaying 35-40

Use usb to power the fan, if you can connect it. Yet, if you find something plastic it will be still better than the wood because wooden surfaces are supposed to be better insulators (preserve the heat).
I found that when the fan blows fresh air into the laptop the result is much better than when it sucks air out of the laptop.

oh okay, well I dunno best buy has one for like 20 bucks, just dont know if the fans will match up with my holes but ill try

also, ive heard vaccuming your fan (helps get any dust out etc..) will help so I guess i might try that but the compressed air should have got most or all

Why not try a new fan?? It should cost some 40 bucks or so and it should solve your problem(if the fan motor is what causing it to spin slow)

Why not send it in for warranty repair in that case. It will take a few days, but you will end up with a woking laptop without the need for any extra cooling systems.

But if you dont want to wait or cannot be without the laptop for a while, then I guess a cooler is your only choice and it should be capable of keeping things cool.
