AHHH the hp i bought Today
with a celeron m, its a dv1000 and it works like a charm, except the fan it is so loud and annoying, if it only came on once in a hour I wouldnt mind but its coming on every few minutes like 2, i have 2 years warranty, so i may just take it back but why would it do this and are there any fixes, or how to make the fan come on less

One reason could be because of the Celeron processor, they don't have an option to step back when you don't need all the processor power, they always run at full blast.

I highely doubt the celeron, because its at around 50celsius it will go 50 to 57 then the fan will go on it will go back to 50 2 minutes later its 57 and the fans going I dont mind the fan going, its just the loudness. so who else has a dv1000 and what does the fan sound like, im on battery power now and the fan has not turned on, btu it wont show me the time remaining in my battery
and i want to see the average battery it just got 98% remaining

i just got this unit too, and yes, it's a bit loud for me. looks like it's going back to the store. i swear, i give up. i am so sick and tired of trying laptops! this is my fourth in two weeks. aggggh!

Yea dude. IF you need a laptop I reccomend a ibm t43 t40-41 would probably be good my dads laptop with pentium m 1.8ghz is quiet compared to mine has a better gpu radeon 9000 i think or x300/600 i dont know but it is quiet

The Compaq v2000z with the Mobile Sempron CPU is a better budget CPU. The Sempron can slow the CPU to conserve the battery which has the side effect of producing less heat and fan noise. Celerons cannot do this.
dv1000 fan sounds like a plane.
