Just a question regarding dv1000. It's screen is blank. can see that the machine starts up, but no visibility in the screen -completely blank.
I tried connecting the machine to an external monitor. Cannot the XP logo comes up and goes blank. I then tried to boot in safe mode, and it did - boot into safe mode when using external monitor.
What could be the problem ? Could it be the lcd lamp ? or could it be someother problem ?
Suggestions welcome

It sounds like a graphics card problem provided that you cannot boot with an external monitor as well.
If it's the lamp you should still be able to see something on the screen. Bring the laptop near a window (in other words, light) and gaze at the screen after you turn it on. Even if the lamp is not working, you may still see something.
Could you boot into safe mode with the external monitor more than once? Did you see anything on the laptop screen at that time? (press FN+F4 to switch between displays). -
Can a corrupt video driver cause this. probably not right ? if that was the case at I would have been able to get the lcd on using a generic boot disk.
please comment
