Those nifty media control keys are part of the reason I bought this machine over, say the V2000. However, the buttons only seem to work with iTunes when iTunes is the application in the foreground! So if I'm in Word and want to skip a song, I have to go to the iTunes app and THEN hit the skip button on the HP...that blows!
I tried Windows Media Player as a test and sure enough, with THAT app, the media control keys worked when WMP was in the background and I could do anything I want and just hit those media control buttons to change my tunes.
However, I am among the iPod iCult, and thus there's no way I can or want to use Windows Media Player over iTunes.
So is it normal that iTunes doesn't fully work with HP's buttons? If so, that's pretty poor engineering support on HP's part. If not, what can I do to mine to make them work with iTunes as they should?
