Just got a DV1635 and so far I am loving most of it. The only thing I don't like is that when you close the lid, there is a space between the screen and computer with a little "bounce" when you push down on it. There is slightly more space on one side than the other. Is it only mine that has this problem or is it common? The latch design doesn't seem like the greatest out there...

Other than that I'm loving it though, couldn't find a better laptop for the price I paid.

Nope, mine had the same issue.

I ended up exchanging it for the dv2000, but I really loved the dv1000. I just liked the looks of the dv2000, and some of it's features.

The dv2000 uses magnetic closure, so there's no gap.

You got a great machine, though! I don't think the gap really matters, but it did bug me as well... fact is though, it really doesn't hurt anything.

Ya its definitley not something I'd worry about... it just bothers me on a brand new toy... i'll forget about it in like a week. Little build things like that are a lot better than a serious problem like dead pixels or something.

I really do love it though. The last laptop I had was a HP Omnibook with like a 166mhz Pentium... this new one is more powerful in most areas than my desktop, and its Windows Vista ready. Considering all I wanted was a ~$1000 Canadian$$ laptop to browse the web and bring to and from school, I think I did pretty well.
