So, apparently, dv2 with Athlon Neo does support hardware virtualization.
On AMD site we find:
Processor:
AMD Athlon Neo Processor for Ultrathin Notebooks
Model Number:
MV-40
Frequency (MHz):
1600
L2 Cache Size (KB):
512
Socket:
ASB1
Manufacturing Tech (CMOS):
65nm SOI
Wattage (W):
15 W
Virtualization
Yes
However, dv2 with the latest bios (F.27A) has the virtualization disabled and of course HP doesn't give you any options to change that. Too bad, since that means that you cannot run a 64bit virtual machine or even WinXP mode in Windows 7 on this laptop.
Does anybody know if there is a way to fix this somehow?

I'm pretty sure you can run a 64 bit VM even without hardware virtualization.
-
you can turn it on in the bios.
-
I really cannot find it there. And I dimly remember it is used to be there, but in the new bios - I just don't see it...
Ralf, if you are sure that it's in your bios, could you please let me know what bios version do you have? I'll downgrade then... -

i'm using the latest bios (f.27a). it's in system configuation > virtualization technology.

That's it...
Do you have, by any chance dv2z? Mine is dv2-1033cl with AMD Athlon Neo MV-40... Though I just noticed that my bios shows F.27 (not f.27a)...
EDIT: just saw your sig. So that's it! You have a different CPU... But according to AMD both support AMD-V... What the heck? -
i have the dual core athlon neo x2. yup, the bios only shows f.27
actually, i did not have (or i did not notice) the VT option in the previous bios versions. -

I see BIOS F.27a released 10-26-2009 on at least a couple dv2 versions on hp.com. I'd try running the installer for that BIOS and see if it says whether you already have F.27a or not.
