i just got my laptop about a month ago and i've done 2 system recovery due to some minor issues. anyways so the laptop is back to normal condition. and i installed everything that i need, word, autocad, adobe, and what not...

and the pc also did its usual updates. so everything was installed and DONE.

    here's the thing:
i noticed, everytime i log back on to windows and i open My Computer. my hard drive Free space seem to get lower and lower in small incraments. it was 90gigs after everything was installed and updated, NOW it says 86.5gig

yesterday it was at 88.7gigs... it's weird, i tried cleaning files and defragmenting the hd but it's still the same.
and there's no other updates running in the background.

is anyone experiencing this? or is there something going on that i dont know of??? thanks in advance.

Try using TreeSize Free V2.0 to see which files or folders are taking up the most space on your hard drive.

EDIT: try looking under the System protection tab/link in Control Panel-System

Kdawgca, thanks a lot you helped me solved my prob, more of an issue.

so i found the issue, okay so it seems that i selected a restore point after i finished installing all of my programs and from there it automatically created restore points everytime something was changed (ex. new updates install, or deleted something) i thought it would only create restore points manually done by the user, right?? Wrong, it does it automatically.

how do i have that restore feature on but not have it Automatically create restore points every so often. i did notice i had at least 2-3 restore points for each day since i recovered the lappy. weird. no wonder it was eating up my hd space.

    thanks again.

Sometimes when a program installs it will create a restore point. Windows also creates it's own restore points as well as you've found out. Windows will usually delete the oldest restore point when it creates one. You still have a lot of disk space so no problem there.
