My dv2000t just came in today and overall I'm satisfied but I noticed something odd about the lcd..
Whenever I open the laptop or adjust the lcd panel, there's one small spot on the monitor that ripples as if I'm applying direct pressure to that point even though I'm not. Its quite sensitive too, just lightly tapping the bezel will cause that same spot to ripple again. Maybe there's something between the lcd and the lid?

Does anybody else have this problem? Or is this something I shouldnt be concerned about?

How small is the spot? I'd get it replaced if I were you. Over time that could cause problems.

Yeah, I think I'll contact HP today. The spot is about the size of a dime.

    Hi GT281,
Using my DV5030 as a baseline I would agree with Ross. I can push and pu;; my screen from either corner with no rippling.

Hope they get it squared away for you.

I have the exact same problem. This seems to be a common problem with all hp dv2000 seriues laptops . Checked a store model that hs the same ripple effect and one of friends laptop(dv2025) at work has the same problem.

I checked out the dv2000 at my local best buy, i plan to order one online. Any vibration, such as typing on the keyboard, caused a dime size rippple in the screen. This is making me rethink my order choice...

Hey guys Im here to update.
A few weeks ago, I talked to HP support and they had me send the laptop out for repair. Well, I got it back today and no repairs were made. There was a note which simply stated that the lcd was still within their standards... So I guess this is ' normal' =\

On another note, the spring for the battery release latch on my laptop just broke. The latch still works but I have to move it back to the locked position everytime I put the battery in now or it will fall out. More of an inconvenience than anything else but I would advise you guys to be careful when removing or installing the battery on these laptops.

I went to several stores today and tested for screen ripples. 2 out of the 6 I tested suffered from screen ripples, when i lightly tap'd the lcd frame. They both rippled in the upper left corner. The others seemed strong and only rippled when extreme pressure was applied. Seems like a gamble, but I ordered mine today, wish me luck :/.

I can happily report that my DV2000T exhibits no such issues... the LCD is solid unless i push quite hard on the back. It takes *way* more force to cause a ripple than it does to open or close the lid.

I have a 2000z and get ripples when I touch anywhere on the lcd screen.I am using light thumb pressure. The ripples are more noticeable on the upper and lower right side. How many other people have the same problem

I have the dv2000t and I have no ripples on my screen, unless I push very, very hard. I do, however, have 2 stuck red pixels on the right side of my LCD, one on the top and one on the bottom.

OK. I am thru with DV2000. Ripples appeared back on my laptop. Without touching any part of laptop at all. With laptop on my lap if i am working and like shuffle a bit . Upper left hand corner ( abt two inches from the frame ) ripples. Went to Bestbuy to return it back thay wont take it back without $150 Restocking fee. Reason given laptop is still working . The defect in screen has to be dealt with HP .

Apparently the Screen Padding in the back was little thick which is causing the ripples when laptop is moved . Hopefully they will fix the once which have the bad screens.

Just get a CTO model. Retail models have all kind of issues, including bad Samsung screens, ripples, slow FSB, etc.
