    Hi guys,

I'm a noob here and i'm looking for some advice on what I can upgrade my cpu to. I just bought a dv2040us from best buy and it comes with a t2050 intel chip. I have a good line on a t2500 and i was wondering if I could just drop it in, I was thinkin it would be possible since the t2500 is an option on the dv2000 line. Any help would be great guys, thanks.

Yes is absolutely 100% possible to do such a thing. All the core duos right now are the same exact socket and everything. Its a perfect drop in. As long as u can reach the cpu and are able to take it out, then u should have no problem installing it and having the computer recognize it.

Thanks for the reply, that's great news. I was looking over the procedure to take apart the laptop and it looks pretty involved to get to the cpu, not like my previous laptops. Are there any shortcuts to the procedure? Any link you can guide me to?

Well the only shortcut to gettin to the cpu (besides taking it apart nicely like it says in them manual) is hacking with a saw, but I would not reccomend that lol. I dont have exact links, but on the hp/compaq site they should have manuals for ur specific model.
