So I've had this laptop for a few months now, no complaints for the most part.
But every once in a while the fan will kick way up for a second then drop back down for a second and continue this cycle repeatedly for a minute or so.
I assume it's because the laptop is overheating, but why doesn't it just stay on 'high' instead of pulsing like this? Is there anyway to adjust this?

Update your BIOS. This will change the fan algorithm
Theres no way to tweak the fan speed as it is hard coded into the BIOS. -
Are you assuming that a bios update will fix the problem? Or is it a known problem?
Also, where do I go to get a bios update? -
I cant guarantee that it will fix your problem but it will change how the fan works. Its not really classified as a problem.
go to www.hp.com driver and support page, type in your serial number and go to the driver page
