    dv2000 heat issues running on vista

    is it just me or anyone els having the same issue? :mad: my hard drive heats up pretty fast and hot now running vista. any way to solve this :confused: :mad: :mad: also my fan is running 24/7

    What kind of temperatures are you talking about? My HDD is pretty warm running XP, CPU temps stay between low 40s and mid 50s.

    Get more RAM. If you don't have 2GB RAM already you're probably swapping to HD quite a bit and that's heating up the drive.

    ok thanks. i dont know the temperature but it feels pretty hot on the bottom of the hard drive. when i had XP it never got hot

    I'm going to agree with brianstretch. Since you have Windows Vista installed, and insufficient RAM, the hard disk is being used alot more to store the data. How much RAM do you have the moment?

    same problem. bought it yesterday with vista preinstalled and it ran pretty hot. did a fresh install of xp pro and it is still running pretty hot. hard drive goes to 55C when using ac adapter but when on power save mode it doesn't go past 47C. is that normal for XP?

    u gota defrag with a good defragmenter program. EX: diskeeper. that will help reduce the heat alot. windows defragmenter is pitiful

    i just did...when it's powered with adapter it heats up but it's fine when it's on battery.
