I just bought a dv2000 series laptop and love it! Alot smaller and cooler than my zv6000... When I open the hinge there is a very light click or hickup in the opening of it, anyone else have this? or is everyone elses smooth all the way?

    Thanks! :D

My old dv1000 did that. It is an annoying DEFECT. My new dv2000 opens up smoothly. Return your laptop for a replacement.

I don't know if I would return it just for a slight click that only happens when youm open it...

Seems like a hassle for such a small thing...

Well I opened and closed it a few times and I got the auditory click to go away, but you can still "feel" it ever so slightly when opening it. I really do not want to remove and install everything on a new laptop. Do you guys think this hinge thing is something I should worry about? If it just something within tolerance then I can live with it, but I just hate for it to be a hibernating problem or something later on... Let me know either way. Thank you again.

Difficult to say, considering I'm not affected by it. :) If you're worried at all about it, it wouldn't hurt to call HP support and talk to them about it. They might have more information on how serious it is.

I talked to HP support and the rep and his supervisor insisted that it is something that will go away over time and is nothing to worry about...

Well, to me, the "click" when you open it is a sign of bad build quality. The way I see it, if you pay around 1000+ for a laptop, I expect the screen to open up smoothly with no click. It's not too much to ask.
