In the last 2 days, I noticed small, reddish copper-colored discoloration in a few small places on the top of my dv2000 lid. Has anyone else experienced this? I was thinking it might be the wave design 'sticker' (for lack of a better term) pulling awaya bit. Please let me know if any of you have experienced this, or how I should proceed. Return? Thanks.

The wave design is inlaid and covered by the HP Imprint Finish (glossy coat, basically) so it can't 'pull away' like a sticker.

And my dv2000 doesn't have this problem. The top looks like it was the day it came ouf the box...

This is not good. I just ordered DV6000t and one of deciding factor was its case and lid durabilty, if that factor is out of the window I will not keep it. Please post some pics and someone else confirm this.

Well, I've got three friends with dv2000 models, and they haven't had any thing like this, nor have I.

So, people who have notebooks with Imprint Finish, don't worry. I don't think it's a normal thing.

I'll try to get some pics up later this week. There are now 3 very small discolorations on my lid. They are below the surface and are not the result of damage. I baby this thing like no other. Strange. HP Chat had not even heard of this issue, so I'll probably contact the home store soon. I love this computer, but the little imperfections hurt the aesthetic a bit.

Just received this reply from HP.

    Dear *******,

Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.

I understand from your mail that the lid of your HP Pavilion notebook is
discolored at somewhere below the surface and you would like the color
    to be restored.

Philip, you may send the notebook for a repair. However, the service
center might not repair a cosmetic damage as this is not any hardware or
    software issue.

You may take the notebook to any Authorized Service Providers as well.
However, they will charge you for the repair.

Go to the following Web site to locate your Authorized Service Provider:

    http://hp.infonow.net/bin/findNow?CLIENT_ID=HP_LOC_USA_SRV

This will take you to the "find a US local HP authorized service
    provider" page.
    Then follow the steps below:

    1. In the category menu select the appropriate HP product.

    2. After selecting the appropriate category you will get a list of HP
products in the Family box. Select the family in which your
    product is located.

    3. After Selecting the family of the product you will get a list of
    products under the product list.

    4. Select your product from the list under the product section and
    click Next.

    5. Follow the instructions on the service options page.

If you can not decide which one of the listed stores is the nearest one,
please take the notebook to any RadioShack or CompUSA center for the
service, as they are HP authorized service centers.

If you want us to pick up the notebook for service please get back to
    us.

Doesn't sound like "Total" care to me.
