I finally found a dv2000 at a local store. It's very nice, and I'm probably still going to get one, but I didn't like the track pad very much. It's just way too glossy. I like one with a more matte finish so I don't stick to it as I try to point to things.
How do you dv2000 owners like it? Did you just get used to it?
Thanks.
(Oh, and regarding the screen, it was much brighter than anything else in the store...)

i got used to it but i usually just use my mx1000 instead.
im not a fan of trackpads at all, i would have preferred a trackball instead. -
I guess if you have sticky fingers, the touchpad might pose a problem. I havent had any probems getting used to it.

I looked at a V3000 today, and I have to agree with the original poster. The glossy trackpad did not glide well at all. All other trackpads in the store glided better. I had the same reaction when I looked at a dv2000.
For anyone else that felt this way initially, have you gotten used to the trackpad feel or does it still bug you? -
thing with matte trackpads is that they eventually become glossy from the finger oils and use.

I'm not a fan of the trackpad either, but I usually just use a wireless mouse instead/

I didn't like the track pad at the store so much that I was hesitant to buy my dv2kt. But I did, and now I am very comfortable with the smoothness of the track pad. In fact I almost prefer it now. I kind of think that the store models have extra sticky trackpads because the oil from several different fingers don't mix well (just a thought). After about 2-3 days of use my track pad had almost 0 stickiness now.

I use an external mouse, the Logitech v400, I believe. It's great... never misses a beat, it's small enough to take with me when I travel, so I almost never use the built in touchpad.
I don't think the touchpad bothers me when I do use it... it's not something I've really even given much thought about, but again, I use the v400 which is really nice!
The v400 also doesn't have the problem of some wireless mice, in that it doesn't go to sleep and need to be jogged to start to function... it seems it's always ready, and any movement of the mouse moves the cursor!
Got one for my wife's Mac, after using mine for a couple of weeks, and she loves it as well!
(Don't pass up on the dv2k because of the touchpad... it's an excellent laptop!)
