Hi everyone !!! which of these 2 have a better performance in handling these tasks:
    1) Photoshop
    2) AutoCAD
    2) Watching DVD
    3) Surfing the internet

    1) HP dv2000t - core 2 duo 2.0ghz (4mb L2 cache),intel GMA 950 128mb shared, 14.1" display

    OR

    2) HP dv6000t - core 2 duo 1.83ghz (2mb L2 cache),nvdia Go7400 128 dedicated/128mb shared, 15.4" display

other specs (same specs for both models):
    2.0 Ghz of memory
    120 gb 5400rpm hardrive

The thing is that I can't cuztomized the specs with the HP dealer here in Malaysia as the specs are prefixed.so i have to either choose between the two of them as i like the stylish outlook of these laptops. My main priority here is which of them will be giving me a better performance in the above most used applications. is L2 cache more important or graphic card in determining the performance?

    Thanks a million.

I would go with the dv6000t, the Intel GMA is a weak card and will bottleneck your system when doing graphic intensive programs. Even though the processor is alittle slower with less L2 cache on the dv6000t it will be plenty fast for what you will be using it for, from your post.

thank you so much airman. in reality how much difference is it on performance with an addition of 2mb in L2 cache?

On average the difference between 2MB and 4MB cache is just ~3%. Ofcourse since the T5600 runs a little bit slower than the T7200, the performance difference will be ~5 - 6%. Take a look at the review of the desktop Core 2 Duo processors @ anandtech. The difference will be the same with the mobile Core 2 Duo's.

You might see a better performance from Go7400 in AutoCAD while working with 3d objects, but other than that dv2000 will be faster with the rest of activities that you mentioned assuming the same amount of RAM and hard drive's speed.

If you are heavily working on AutoCAD, then get 6000 for bigger screen.
