The audio jacks on my dv2000t are horrendous.
If I plug a set of headphones/speakers into the 1st jack, i only get sound out of the left side, if i back them out a little less than halfway I only get sound out of the right.
Either way it is accompanied by A LOT of static.
Does this laptop have a PCMCIA slot so that I could perhaps pick up the Creative audio card ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102185)?
Or would one of these cheapy little USB addons work ok ( http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Size-5-1-Ch...QQihZ011QQcategoryZ74957QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)?
I don't need amazing sound but I like to keep things as close to internal as possible (PCMCIA would stick out less than the USB key). I hardly ever use headphones (unless travelling) but I have a upcoming flight across the country and I am definitely going to be watching movies so I need sound that isn't static.
I could send this thing in to HP but im not willing to have that kind of downtime as I use this for work.
Thanks in advance for any help!

The slot on your laptop is actually a ExpressCard I belive not PCMCIA, so no that item probably won't help you unless you buy an adapter, and well I've heard of some in development but yet to see any actual links to buy one.
Creative nor any other manufacture has a ExpressCard Sound Card yet that I am aware of (please correct me if that’s wrong) which is really sad as so many companies are exclusively using the ExpressCard slot right now but it’s still really not fully supported by add-on device manufactures =/
The audio quality of most of the decent priced USB audio cards are imo nothing to brag about, however you will probably find a few that give clear enough sound to enjoy. It seems anything would be a step up from the static... -
thanks for the input!
