Hello! I have a new dv2000t with a SEC screen and have noticed ever so slight, but still noticeable shades on both sides of the screen, essentially in the lower bottom. Is this typical of brightview LCD screens on new notebooks? I notice these shades only against a completely white background, for example Google's home page. Have other users of dv2000 and other hp models noticed something comparable?

    "a new dv2000t with a SEC screen"

that explains it.. I only notice those dark shades and spots on SEC screens.. when i ordered a DV1000 for a friend, i noticed how ugly that screen makes everything.. especially plain ol google.com... read around the forum.. those SEC screens are horrible.. terrible.. etc.. exchange or return it if you can.

I did see the negative feedback on SEC screens here and elsewhere, but it had primarily to do with inferior brightness and vividness. I wonder if anyone has also noticed slight shades, which I note are noticeable on my screen only against a white background.

I've made a quick video of the SEC screen on my dv2000t and posted it on YouTube here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xqd18-82e1o

The shades are not quite as exaggerated as captured on the video camera, but they are still there. What do you think of it?

i have an SEC screen on a dv2000z and mine is not bad like that at all. it's actually better than my previous HP zv6000 i got last year and my Averatec 3270 so i guess ignorance is bliss but i'm not complaining.

I ordered a dv2000t the other night from costco.com ... if I get a SEC screen and it looks like that then it is DEFINITELY going back.

Definitely get that replaced. My SEC screen looks nothing like that, minor light leakage.

I am also trying for a new laptop - my 2nd one should be here by Tuesday. Hopefully it wont have a SEC screen again, although my SEC screen doesn't look nearly as bad as some of the ones people have gotten - just really dim. I just don't want to have put my screen at top brightness when on battery power and I need it near that high to make it usable on the SEC screen...
