I just got my dv2000t today and I'm not happy with it. The laptop is going back and I'm considering whether I should give HP another chance. I have a few comments I would like to share with prospective buyers. Here's a very quick review that is not organized, sorry everyone.

    Pros:
Quick delivery - My computer was shipped on Sept. 18 from China as promised and by last night (Sept. 19th) it has reached Indianapolis and by today's morning it was out on delivery in South Cali and reached my door step at around 10 am.

Design - I was really impressed when first opening the box. The dv2000t is beautifully designed and I might get another one for my girlfriend once the defects are resolved.

Thin and light - I appreciate the light weight of this computer after jugging around my 8 lb desktop replacement everywhere. The dv2000t is also really thin.

Brightview - The brightview screen is beautiful. I compared it to my old laptop with matte screen and the color on the brightview is much more vibrant. I brought it with me to do some errands and when used outdoor I can still see the screen w/ some reflection, but if you don't pay attention to it, you wont notice. My matte screen wouldn't even be viewable outdoor. But I will leave it at that because I got an SEC screen and that isn't so beautiful.

Camera - It's really nice to have a camera handy. It would have been better if it was adjustable, though.

Remote - I'm glad I got this little thing for $15. It's very convenient and can be stored in the express card slot.

Small power adapter - This is a welcomed change after carrying around my power brick for the past 2 years.

    Cons and very annoying:

SEC Display - When I first powered on the computer, I already knew I got an SEC screen before even looking into device manager. The screen was much dimmer than the Quanta I saw at Circuit City. There's also a significant amount of light leakage at the bottom of the screen. But the screen I can get used to and not worth my time returning it and try my luck at a new one.

Viewing angle - The viewing angle is really bad. It can only accomodate one viewer at best, anyone sitting next to you will not be able to enjoy a dvd movie or a slideshow because it'll be too dark.

Keyboard - The keyboard is really clicky, not like my old laptop. But I can get used to it, not a big deal.

Battery life - The battery was 60% charged when I got it and it drained really fast. While doing microsoft update, the battery drain as quick as 1% per minute.

Corrupted file? - I powered on the laptop and right away I got a bunch of corrupted file errors and notifications telling me to run Chkdsk. I ran Chkdsk a few time and the same errors persist. The camera doesn't work at first, keep getting error when trying to launch it, I have to work with it a bit to get it to work. I ran windows update, and got 60 file to update. Overall, the computer is not what one would expect when bought brand new. But I guess this does not matter much because I'll be doing a reformat later.

Bloatware - My gosh, there are so much stuff on here. With a 2 ghz Core 2 Duo processor and my computer load up so slow. I have 58 process running at startup.

Processor - So far, I'm yet to be impressed with the new core 2 duo.

Last one - With all the design flaws that come packaged with this brand new notebook, I would still keep it if not for 1 last thing that is bugging the heck out of me. The **** touchpad. What is this thing? It is so jumpy, it jumps all over the screen, I cannot get any precision on it. I try updating the driver, but synaptics told me that I got the latest installed. I try setting to the config of my old trusty laptop and it still jumps. This is one flaw I cannot accept, because I'm the type of guy that uses the touchpad for everything. I do photoshop with a touchpad. I can't believe how ****ty this touchpad is. I'm wondering if I should send it back and try my luck at getting another dv2000t or is this how every dv2000t is.

I'll be giving HP a call tonight or tomorrow morning to send this thing back and have them send me a new one with a Quanta screen and a working touchpad. But if they make me return this and reorder a new one or if they can't guarantee a Quanta screen and working touchpad, I'll go buy a Dell.

I sent two dv2000t's back last month because of the same touchpad problems! They were both unusable. I was afraid to try another one and ordered a dv9000z and I haven't had any problems. The touchpad works perfectly and the screen is beautiful (I got a sec screen on the dv2000).

I read on another thread that HP was going to release some kind of bios update for the dv2000 touchpad problem...
