Is there any way that you can set the computer to lock (switch users) if the lid is closed? In Power Options, the only options are Hibernate and Stand By.
Maybe if we can get this question answered, we can branch this topic into other areas, like maybe button action modification, or something

I don't know if this answers your question, but i set a password on my user account, and everytime i shut the lid on the dv2000t and then open it...i am at the windows welcome screen and it prompts me for a password...I'm sure it will do the same thing even if you had multiple accounts.

No, it doesn't. I also have multiple accounts, both have a password. I am more looking for a registry key to change/add/edit.

    It's not that hard:

Power Properties, Advanced Tab, Check the box next to "Prompt for Password when..."

Below that, set your computer to Standby when the lid closed.

I am trying to make the computer perform another action besides hibernate or standby when the lid is closed. I do not want to computer to hibernate or standby, which is the purpose for writing this post.

Dont know of any registry entries but in the meanwhile I would suggest the same as cydeweyz said. But instead of letting the computer go into standby when the lid is closed, set it to Do nothing.. This way after say 1min of inactivity, the screensaver activates and since you have enabled the prompt for password checkbox, the next time the screen is opened the computer will be locked.
