I just noticed that HP has dropped the price of their new Core Duo dv2000t. It now starts at $799.99 with a Core Solo and can be upgraded to a Core Duo for just $50 more! It also comes with 1 gb ram! I think I'm going to get one really soon! It simply blows dell out of the water!

I have one question that I would like to attach onto my post. How does the dv2000t smell? This might seem like a funny question at first but I've had problems in the past with ibooks that smell terrible. Does the plastic on the dv2000 smell strongly? I've never seen the laptop in person, but it is often described as having a glossy "coat". I often associate glossy with odor!

Excellent news! I wonder if I should wait another 2 weeks to get mine or should I get it now.....anyone with a suggestion? It definetly seems like a good deal. AND you get a free HD upgrade from 60 to 80.
-
OMG.. I am suppose to get my dv2000 this week and HP lowered the price !!
When I compared the price that I paid and current price, it's almost 80 dollars.... What should I do.. Return it again and order new one ? -
Ouch that sucks. I was deciding between this computer and Dell's E1450, but now with all the free upgrades, HP is definitely the better choice. Plus 30 days of downloading videos for free and all the other good stuff.

Hey bart8314, I'm in the same situation as you. I got my laptop 2 days ago. In my case, the difference is almonst 150 bucks. So, I started checking the hpshopping website and I found this:
"The HP Home & Home Office Store reserves the right to change prices at any time. Should we lower the price of the product you purchased, you may call 1-866-433-2018 within 30 days of receiving your order to request a credit for the difference between the price you paid and the current the HP Home & Home Office Store selling price. This excludes mail-in rebates, which are not part of this price protection."
Here is the link for that:

Good luck with that. I'll call them first thing tomorrow morning. -
Thanks DV2000T for the information.
I will call HP tomorrow.. and will let you know the result. -
Question for you guys: I want to have something so I can backup my files on my computer everyday (or 4 or so days a week) because my hard drive crashed last year and we don't want that to happen with this new HP laptop. However, I don't see that option anywhere on the pages when buying the dv2000t.

DV2000Z also reduces the price. Now the whole base package dropped $50. Plus there is free upgrade from 60GB to 80GB HD option. I don't know how it works out, but at least it posted online.
DV2000Z only costs $936+ now with configuration of TL-52/80GB HD/512MB DDR2/DVDRW/6 cell
But DV2000T seems has better deal now, with $954 you got 1.83G T2400 and 1GB RAM -
Hey bart8314, great news. I just called HP and they refunded me the difference between what I paid and the new price. Check this out: $182.74
Now, I definetely feel like I got the best deal in my life. Between the APP discount, the $100 instant savings, the $50 mail-in-rebate, the free printer, free shipping, and now this, I ended up saving around $550.
That's what I call a great deal for an GREAT laptop. So far HP's been really good to me. I hope it stays that way. -
this is true for the 8000t also...... they are giving free 1GB RAM now..... instead of 512MB..
-
Hey... DV2000T...
I called HP just before and they refunded $ 70.50 ( I ordered dv2000z so the refund was less than yours ).. Anyway, it took around 30 min for everything and was kind of hassle.. the HP rep. was confusing himself and it took so long.
Hey DV2000T, Did they refund Tax also? The rep. said that it is not possible to refund the tax. He said something about HP credit....
Anyway, I am happy with my dv2000z.
Thanks for your information dv2000t. -
I wonder if I can get a discount even though I only paid $455AR for my Core Duo DV2000T, i should try
-
Hey HomoMafia, great purchase.
-
yeah it was a pretty good purchase, couldn't be happier. -
Hahaha. Hey domoMafia, great to see you are a good sport.
Now, seriously, congratulations on the great purchase. I'm assuming that was from Office Depot? I read somewhere they made a mistake, I guess, and they were selling the DV2000t for cheap. -
yessir it was from OfficeDepot!
now if only my swsetup cd's weren't giving me errors, id be 110% content right now -
Hey Rockharder- Office Depot is having a instore config sale on the dv2000z- I posted in the deals thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64479
---------------------------------------------------------------
Sidenote: DomoMAFIA was one of the lucky lil' devils that picked up a dv2000t for that price due to a temporary (and quickly corrected) price mistake.

Looks like the price of the dv2000z and dv2000t dropped again following the announcement of the new dv6000z! Glad my laptop hasn't arrived yet, even more money to get back. I wonder if I should wait another week or two after getting my laptop to see if the price drops again.
I hope none of you are disappointed that a 15/4" is now offered. Luckily, I preferred a 14.1". -
Hey Onionion, even if your laptop had arrived, you have 30 days after receiving your laptop to ask for a refund. Yesterday I got a refund of $185 for mine.
As far as being dissapointed now that the 15 and 17" are offered, there is nothing like a nice 14.1" laptop. I'm very happy with mine. -
DV2000T,
Thanks for the tip. With the price drop, I feel even more satisfied with the purchase.
On a separate note, what kind of battery life are you getting on your dv2000t? I ordered the 'z' so mine might end up with different power consumption, but I was just curious what your experience has been.
Thanks.
dv2000t Price drip and free 1gb ram!
