My dv2000t is about two weeks old, and the screen occasionally flickers very briefly. I did a fresh Vista Install after I got it, but after that I installed the latest drivers (I have Intel integrated graphics). The flickering has no relation to movement of the screen, so I'm assuming it's not a wiring problem. Could this be symptomatic of a deeper problem?

Try letting your computer boot into the BIOS, and let it sit for a while. Does it happen there?

Occasionally in XP and/or Vista, my screen flickers, but I know for a fact it is a driver issue for me. For some it might be a software issue, for others a hardware. Obviously, if it is a hardware issue it needs to be looked at. If it happens a lot, then there might be something wrong with it. If it happens once a day or so (mine does it when I boot up and it is predictable) and is predictable, then you're probably fine as that's a software deal.

But yeah, if it still happens in BIOS I think there might be a hardware problem here.

Thanks! I'm not seeing any flickering in the BIOS (and I also have a predictable flicker on startup), so I guess it is a drivers problem, which is a relief.

Would going back to earlier drivers help at all? Or should I just wait and hope the next update will fix the problem? It's not really that big a deal.

Yes, generally the stock drivers that were originally loaded on the notebook are the best. If those drivers do not fix the issue, then your only option is to update to the latest version.

I noticed this very same issue while watching a DVD on a dv2000t. It happened several times, and I just figured it was a Quickplay bug. I'll have to check the HP site for updated drivers, as Microsoft Update did not find any.

It could be the driver but I think it couls also be your refresh settings

Hmm...the refresh rate is at 60 Hertz, which is the only option on my Intel control panel. Should I be looking at something else?
