I'm very seriously considering HP's dv2000t, and I'd like to know what battery life I can expect to get out of it. What battery life is everyone getting? Also how can I equip my dv2000t to get the best battery life possible? I've heard the Core Duo has better power management than the Core Solo. Is this true and does this translate into better battery life for the Core Duo? What about clockspeed? If I get the 1.60 GHz Core Duo (533 FSB) can I expect to get better battery life than I would with the 1.83 (667 FSB)? Also what will the preformance difference be? I've heard all the Core Duo chips are fast enough. Note: I'm not interested in an extended battery that will stick out!

    Thanks,

I got 2 hours 45 minutes, viewing a dvd, some modest ripping and web surfing. I have a dv2000t, 1.73 Ghz with 2MB Ram. This was with wifi (mostly) off, but screen at full brightness.

I know you said you didn't want the 12 cell. However, I had the 12 cell with my previous dv1000t, and got 7 hours with it! Wish my new dv2k came with the 12 cell, but it was preconfigured, with almost everything exactly how I wanted it (bluetooth, lightscribe, 2MB ram, 120 GB hard drive, etc.), only thing was, no 12 cell.

I know some people don't like how the battery sticks our, but I found when using the laptop on a desk, it raised the back of the laptop, raising the screen slightly, and tilting the keyboard for (for me) easier typing.

The slight bulge and half lb additional weight really didn't bother me.

Now waiting for 12 cells for the dv2000's to show up on eBay. Can't see paying HP $180 for a frigg'n battery!

By they way, I don't think a faster processor will noticably decrease or affect battery life. If you go from a 5400 rpm hard drive to a 7200, that would probably reduce battery life.

I'd figure between 2 hours 15 minutes and 3 hours, depending on if wifi is on/off, screen brightness, and what the laptop is doing.

Love to hear other people's findings. These times were NOT done under rigorous condition testing, they are just what I got under ONE real world situation.

T2300 is getting scarce. Intel is pushing T2050 and T2250 now(both 533 FSB), because T2300 really hurts their bottom line. There is not enough performance difference between 2300 and 2400 to justify the price difference, so 2400 was not selling.
