How well does standby mode work with this model? I have a iBook G4 and its standby works amazingly well. I left it on standby for about a month before and when I opened it it had 96% battery still. What kind of drain can I expect from this HP model?

Are you sure your iBook didn't enter hibernation because I don't believe it's feasible for a notebook to use that little battery life while being on standby for a month.

Hrm, I wonder. I only just closed the lid. I have no idea what happened there on out.

i think it is possible. mac osx puts the ibook to sleep when you close the lid. Sleep kinda equals to windows hibernation i think...

The standby will eat the battery for several days but it is uncommon to leave the laptop in standby for more than a few hours. Usually, people set their laptops to enter hibernation after some time in standby as the standby function does not cut off the power supply and is not feasible if you try to prolong your battery time.

Powerbooks do have hibernation mode(called Safe Sleep) (only 1.5 G4's and Macbook/Pro's) but is not used unless the battery is depleted. The Powerbooks can last a very long time when in Standby Mode much longer than standard Windows laptops. I am not sure how well the Macbooks and Macbook Pro's last, but I have left my Powebook G4 in standby mode for days and it only loses a few percentage points in battery life. It is indeed in Standby and not Hibernation as the unit returns from Standby mode instantly. I have let the battery die once, and when you turn it on again, a graphic of the screen is shown (exactly as you left it before the battery dies) and you see a small bar at the bottom of the screen showing you that the system is restoring.
dv2000t and standby mode?!
