I noticed this morning that with the launch of HPs new laptops a dedicated graphics solution is now being offered on the dv2000t laptop:

    128MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7200 +$25.00

Also, we now have the ability to remove the webcam:

Choose the way you would like your notebook to look.

HP IMPRINT Finish + Microphone Included in price
HP IMPRINT Finish + Microphone + Webcam +$30.00

    Cheers!

only 128 mg? Is this dedicated or shared? I thought it's 256 shared.

By dedicated I meant it has a discrete graphics processor. Memory is shared with the system (TurboCache). I think it might have 32MB dedicated though.

This is great news. I've been waiting for this change. I'll be placing my order later today. I configured it through Costco for less than I would pay through HP's APP as well...

It's a bit of a disappointment that the 7200 only includes 32mb of dedicated memory, but for $25 more it's still a great deal. It should preform considerably better than the GMA 950.

Hey Ross, are you sure about getting a better price at Costco?. They don't offer the APP offer. I would double check again. I just configured 2 identical laptops through HP and Costco websites and HP website was cheaper by 100 bucks, the equivalent of the APP savings on this case.

I got my laptop last week and I'm very happy with it. The 'geforce go 7200' wasn't available at that time but again I don't know how much of a difference it would have made. Would it? (Please, say no) hahahaha

It all depends on the configuration and options. And remember that the APP price is shown after rebate, but the Costco price is shown before rebate. The configuration I finally settled on is $16 more from Costco, but is definitely worth it for the return policy.

Wow, HP is doing a lot of new stuff today. DV9000, DV6000/V6000, and a new graphics card for the DV2000t.

I really don't understand what HP is doing. They cut down the price so quick just within one month. They are releasing V6000 and DV6000 but just for AMD X2, no T available. Also only provide Go 7200 at 2000t and DV6000Z, but not V6000Z, nor V3000/DV2000z.

Their production line just push me back to wait what will happen till this fall.

HP Web is $50 cheaper than costco with APP. But if you consider an extra battery and service plan, there will be no different for total amount.

I'm sure that's where I made up the difference. Do you know how it works if you purchase the service plan later? I was thinking about waiting until my 6 months are up to purchase HP's plan. Right now, through Costco, it is only $68 for a two year plan, but would it cost more later? Also, if I buy the service plan now, but return the notebook, is the service plan refundable as well?

    Hey everyone!

I JUST pulled the trigger on the DV2000t now that they are officially offering the Geforce 7200. I priced the APP vs Costco and it was literally only $45 more at Costco and to me, its worth it to have the 6 month return policy. I bought my custom DV1000t back in late March for about $1450 after taxes at Costco (which will now be going back), and now a new DV2000t with dedicated graphics is costing me only $1220 after taxes BEFORE $50 rebate! Not too shabby. Im sure that the new Intel 64 bit Duo Core 2 will be available in this model before the next 6 months, so it may even be worth upgrading again! ;)

Also, I did buy the xb3000 base port replicator on HP's APP site on sale for only $187.00 as they have a $50 instant rebate on it. Might be worth it for those looking to dock their laptop.

hey HKings, does Costco accept returns 'no questions asked'? do you have to pay a restocking fee? That sounds like a good deal.

I don't know how to buy service plan seperately. The service plan must be went through HP, not by Costco, I think it is not like you buy service plans from Bestbuy. Besides, even Bestbuy ask more money if you purchase the plan later on. They are not fool. ;)

Yes, Costco has a 6 months "No Questions Asked" return policy on all computers. There is no restockin fee... in fact they even refund you on shipping if there was any. No too bad a deal if you ask me.

    HKINGS,
If you are returning your computer to Costco just so you can upgrade to the newest model, you are abusing the return policy. Just because you can get away with it, that doesn't make it right. If enough people abuse the generous return policy, it will be retracted. Please don't do this, and for goodness sake, don't advocate that other people do it too.

You are wrong on 2 counts Chumley.

    1) I didn't advocate anything! I just said what "I" was going to do and supplied the facts. You show me where I "told" or "advised" or "advocated" others do what I did. Most people on here are big boys and girls and they make decisions for themselves... no where did I tell anyone to do as I say.

    2) Also, how am I "abusing" a return policy if it is a "No Questions Asked" 6 month return policy? No questions asked means regardless of WHY I'm returning the item, it can be returned for ANY reason within those 6 months. If they don't ask me any questions, nor do they care why I'm returning it, how is it abuse? If a company makes a decision to offer an iron glad 100% money back guarentee for 6 months without a question asked, I'm supposed to only use it IF my computer blows up because most other companies don't offer the same policy? While you may disagree, I am returning a laptop well within the policy restrictions without lieing, cheating or stealing. They wrote the policy, not me. I pay my $40 a year membership so I have the right to use my membership and follow the guidlines Costco sets forth. If they change it, then so be it, but until then all is perfectly legal and on the up and up.

Discalimer: All of the above information are only facts. I am not advising others what to do. It's just information.

    HKINGS,

Actually, you have a right reason to return it. "You don't like this model", you simply want to change to another configuration just because HP made you to do that. If HP release Go 7200 at the same time with GMA 950, then you are abusing it. Since HP release two configuration within 30 days, they really confused customer's decision. Everyone would pay extra $30 to get a better machine.

Hey HKINGS, don't lie man. It's because of you that I'm going to buy my laptop from Costco so I can return it in 5 months and buy a newer one, and then in another 5 months I'll return it again and buy a newer one again.
    Don't lie.

You appear to have bought a computer, used it for 4 months, and then returned it simply because a newer/better/cheaper model was released. That may be allowable under the letter of the Costco policy, but it certainly does not reflect the intent of the policy. Costco and/or HP is taking a significant loss on that transaction, because you are using a computer without paying for it, and when you return it, it is substantially depreciated. If you consider that to be "on the up and up", so be it, but I do not. Costco is not a computer lending library, and I as a Costco customer don't want to have to pay for you to use it like one. I strongly encourage everyone to think twice about using/abusing the return policy in this way, or we WILL lose it.

HKINGS and I have stated our positions on the matter and we clearly disagree. Let's please close this discussion about Costco and return to the original subject of the thread. Thanks.

there is a coupon code in the costco passport, usually an online coupon applies to customizable computers at the same time as the coupon runs.

The go 7200 card seems to have a couple of different iterations. I noticed that the new dv6000 also has the 7200, but its version has 256MB of memory (64MB dedicated, 192MB from system memory). nVidia's website has very little info on the card, so it's hard to tell what the deal is... has anyone seen any more info on it?

    Thanks.

    madman360,

Im currently holding my Summer 2006 Costco passport and have looked at it front to back several times. I fail to see the coupon you are referring to. The only thing I see on July 31st is $200 off of a specific 15.4" model of HP with specific model number. Where is this code you are talking about? Can you share and post the code on your next post? When is it eligible? All info is truly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!
