hi. i just got a new dv2000t and was wondering if i can resize the 1st partition to a smaller size and make a new partition out of the free space after that. would that give any problems to quickplay or windows? thanks. btw im planning to use Gparted livecd to do the partitioning.

The only issues I've ever seen with windows and resizing were with dynamic discs. Since we're talking laptop, that isn't a problem because you can't create a dynamic disc on a windows laptop.

    Hi,

If you use Partition Magic from Power Quest you can resize it in a very easy steps. and you won't lose the quick play. I have DV6000 and deleted the recovery partition and combined it with the C. The Partition Magic will cost you unless you Torrent it and download it for free, at least that's what I did. Good luck.

DON'T use Partition Magic. It is too old and simply doesn't work. Use Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 it's as easy to use as PM and it works.

May I ask why it does not work? It has worked for every single time I used it. I checked out Acronis Disk Director Suite 10, and it's not a freeware and cost $49.99 and considering is not popular you won't be able to get a free version.
