Got my dv2000t today; acutally had gotten one last Wednesday but returned that as I had put in another costco.com order that arrived today. The second order included $50 instant rebate.
    Impressions so far:
    a) Build quality --- top doesn't seem to be that strong.
    b) Large keyboard keys. Very well thought.
    c) Shiny blue LED's
    d) Great finish both outside and inside.
    e) Silvery finish around keyboard contrasts nicely with black keyboard and exterior.
    f) A button to turn of wireless; nice touch.
    g) Nice bright LCD
    h) Core duo rocks

I will write a detailed review shortly. Enjoy pictures till then. Click on HPDv2000t link. Let me know if pictures are not clear or you guys want more pictures

So how much did it come to on the costco price? Is it cheaper than HP.com and the APP program combined or no?

    Hey tph
Could you tell me if the lid on the dv2000 shows fingerprints?

Also, how well does the lid stay closed with the magnetic closure?

    Thanks!

nah, those aint fingerprints, but sleeky wavy design. really nice.

the magnetic "whatever" does work very well, i am experiencing no problems with it. guess its much better than a proper lock.

From what Costco customer service told me it takes 7-8 business days to get this thing build. After that you will receive a shipping email. I got mine within 2 days of that shipping email.
Yes I contacted HP and paid for 2yrs extended warranty.

Mmm.. It was cheaper than HP.com price but since I ordered; HP.com is selling it even lower. So you may get a better price on HP.com. HP.com is also offering a $30 discount on 2 year epxress warranty too.

It doesn't show fingerprints on the lid however if you touch the lcd border you can see the fingerprints. Keeping that aside; finish and patterns on this puppy is awesome.

Here is a quote from HP site about Imprint finish technology that is used for this line :

Building on its position as the No. 1 consumer notebook manufacturer,(2) HP has injected fresh design and personal style into the HP Pavilion dv2000 Series Entertainment Notebook PC and Compaq Presario V3000 Series Notebook PC.

Coined “HP Imprint,” the notebook finish is a refined, high-gloss coating with a unique, inlaid design. Using an advanced molding technique – often used for cell phone casings, cosmetic packaging and luxury car interiors – the HP Imprint process provides a durable finish with a fashion appeal. HP Imprint was developed in cooperation with Nissha Printing Co., based in Japan. HP expects to be the first company to apply this advanced molding technology to an entire notebook.

I think if you are not connected to power outlet and you are using the notebook it dims the LCD brightness (power save mode) but you can increase the brightness again by pressing Fn+PgUp. This key combination works for most notebooks & should work for this one too.

I'm glad to hear good things about this laptop as I am definitely interested in getting this or the Compaq version of it.

One question - Does the laptop get hot? I was looking at the HP dv1000 series and noticed that those got a little warm. Not very hot, but relatively warm.

    Thanks

It's still a little cheaper to buy this laptop on costco but now costco offers a 2 year warranty for $81 and that option was not their when I bought it 2 days ago, lucky I used my american express to get 2 years instead of 0ne. Also I wonder if HP puts people who orders from costco ahead of people who orders from HP because the estimate build time from HP is 1 month and from costco it's a little more than 1 week.

I'm seeing a shipping date on custom config for the dv2000z, June 23 for the dv2000t, on www.costco.com, of June 25 if you order today.

On www.hp.com the shipping date shows June 26 for both dv2000z/t.

So Costco is showing a few days less time for shipping... strange.

Keep in mind, ship date is only an estimate. From what I've read, most people get their computers shipped prior to their projected ship date from Costco, some even receiving their laptop before the date they were given as the estimated shipping date.
