    Hi guys,

I have ordered the dv2000t (CTO) model on Nov.8th. So it should be here at my door later in this week i hope. But after reading few posts about different screen qualities and manufacturers, I am wondering that is there any way to request the batter screen? or did they start using a different brand due to lot of returns?

No way to request a particular screen make. TBH have used the Samsung as well as the Quanta screens and the Samsung was not too bad. maybe I am a bit insensitive to the differences, but I would suggest tryign out the Samsung screen before deciding whether it looks OK to you or not.

Just try out the screen and see if it is acceptable. I ended up with two orders and both had SEC screens. However, the 2nd laptop was noticeably brighter than the first so I ended up keeping it even though it was one of the "poor" SEC screens. The SEC screens can look good as per my 2nd laptop, I just think the quality is a lot more random on the SEC screen than some of the other manufactures like QDA. Some people end up getting really dim screens (like my first laptop) and some people end up with horrible light leakage, which is why the SEC screen got a bad name for the dv2000t.

When you get the laptop, check it for any dead pixels with all-color screen tests. Try out all white and all black screens to see if you have a light leakage issue. Also, see if you are satisfied with the brightness of the screen, in general. If so, no reason to return it even if it is a SEC screen, as you would likely get another SEC screen on re-order. Also, try checking out Circuit City or Best Buy for a DV2000t and look to what screen it has under system/hardware/device manager/plug and play monitor/properties (I think). Compare it to whatever screen you get and see if you are still satisfied. I was with my 2nd order even after comparing my SEC screen to the AUO screen at a Circuit City store.
