I'm having some serious issues with my dv2000t (core duo 1.66, 512, 60gb, bluetooth).... and i could really use some help.
While working on it for a while using battery power, the notebook will completely shut off (no blue screen, no hibernate, nothing). It's as if all power was cut off to the system, even though the battery has over 70 or 80% life left. After that, the laptop can't be turned on without plugging in the AC adapter (i.e. - the power button doesn't do anything until you plug the adapter back in).
It happens sporadically every few days... even after a full charge and using it for less than 30 min. Can anyone give me some insight? Is this a common problem?
Thanks!

Not common as far as I know. It's possible that your battery is bad, regardless of the amount of charge it has.

Usually a generic battery does that.....if you want you can go to sytem bios and drain down completely (cycling the battery). Let the system recalibrate your batttery if not call HP for replacement. I am sure they will get you a replacement since its only a couple months old.

HP also provides a utility to check your battery. Please refer to this page for more details:
