Does anyone know where i can purchase a version of the HP dv2000t.
I know Circuit City has it, but it's not configured how i'd like. I thought someone mentioned they had it at Office Depot, but i dont see it.
    Anyone?
    Thanks.

I believe Office Depot and BestBuy have kiosks where you can configure the notebook the way you want it and have it delivered to your house.

Fry's has them pre-configured. Not sure where you're located, or if there's a Fry's Electronics near you.

Nicely configured, also. Lightscribe, 120 GB Hard Drive, 2MB ram, remote control...

Perhaps CompUSA also have the dvd2000 preconfigured.

Hum, I'm in California, and purchased one from Fry's locally.

I know my brother lives in Dallas, and he just picked one up from the Fry's in Dallas, but I don't think they have stores on the east coast.

    Sorry 'bout that.

Does Costco have the dv2000 on display? Has anyone seen it there? I'm trying to avoid driving way out of my way just to see it at the ONE CompUSA that has it in the area.

    Thanks

When I was at the one in Burbank, about two weeks ago, they had just received about 10 of them. The salesman told me that he was instructed NOT to put them out on display, until they had sold out of their stock of dv1000t's.

He was more then willing to open one up for me, for me to check out. I proceeded to purchase it!

I would certainly guess they have them on display by now. I called Fry's before I drove down there, and was told they had them in stock (which they did, just not on display, but again, it didn't really matter)

A follow-up: I called the local Costco and (after being transferred and disconnected three or four times) was told that they had no info on the computer or whether they would have it in stock. The guy actually told me it looked like it would not be available in stores and was only available online.

So... great return policy, not-so-fantastic customer service.

But still better than CompUSA, which told me they knew nothing about it, even though the one 20 miles farther away has it in stock. And they were a bit surly about it.

Best Buy also had no idea. The guy I talked to in their computer department even asked around and couldn't tell me anything.

Makes me wonder how many of these places actually have some sitting in the back and have been instructed not to admit it. I just want to see the dang thing in person before I buy it.... sheesh.

Second follow-up: I'm on the east coast, by the way. I talked to another local Costco, and they were a bit more helpful. From what they could find out, they don't yet have them in stock, but should have them by sometime in August. I don't think I'm going to wait that long, though.

It would seem that you guys on the west coast are way ahead of us!
