    Hello,

Can anyone confirm if I can upgrade my dv2000z and dv6000z to 2 x 2Gb RAM.
I am asking this because I thought I read somewhere that certain models won't recognize more than 3GB RAM (could be for a single SODIMM)

Similarly can anyone confirm the exact size of the HDD, in terms of physical dimensions, that I need to specify when ordering for an upgrade HDD.

    Thanks in advance and regards,

    Ravindra.

Yes, with the newer BIOSes. 32-bit OSes will max out at ~3.2 GB.

    2.5" SATA.

agreed however this will further depend on your video card and also if you have 64bit it will recognise all memory

    Hello,

Thank you for your early replies.
So the max I can upgrade my RAM is 3GB. I think I will go for 2 x 1GB.

    Lithus:
Do I need to further detail 2.5" SATA? Do ALL HDD specified as 2.5" SATA fit in my laptop? Can I go for 2.5" SATA II, 7200rpm? Is there any capacity limit like RAM?

    Thanks in advance and regards,

    Ravindra.

There is no limit. Any SATA drive will work.

You can upgrade to 4GB, you just won't be able to use all of it until you upgrade to a 64-bit OS. If you already have 2x1GB then only replacing one of them with a 2GB DDR2-667 SODIMM makes sense.
